MAXINE MEDINA says November 1st is a very important date for their whole family as it’s the birthday of her grandmother, Corazon Perez, who’s turning 86 years old this Wednesday. (Happy birthday po!)
“At 86, malakas pa rin ang lola ko, nagpapa-parlor pa, so tradition na sa family namin, along with my cousins, na bago kami magpunta sa memorial park to visit our loved ones, usually, nagla-lunch muna kami as a family with my lola,” she says. “But this November 1st will be extra special, kasi sabay-sabay kaming panonoorin ang first movie kong ‘Spirit of the Glass 2, The Haunted’ which is opening on All Saints Day mismo. E, lahat kami sa family ko, we’re all very fond of watching horror movies and I told them sabay-sabay kaming sisigaw while watching my first movie.”
Maxine is the first cousin of Dianne Medina who’s now officially engaged to Rodjun Cruz. What can she say about their engagement? “Rodjun is really welcome to be a member of our family. Matagal na nga naming hinihintay ang engagement nila kaya kinukulit na namin si Rodjun kasi ten years na sila. Noong 18th birthday ko, kumanta pa siya sa debut ko and he’s been a part of our family since then. Nakakaiyak kasi andaming nilang pinagdaanan, both good and bad, pero until now sila pa rin. Next year ang balak nilang wedding pero wala pang definite plans.”
All those who watched the celebrity screening of “Spirit of the Glass 2” praised her for being a competent performer, considering this is just her first movie and she has no previous acting experience at all. “I’m really thankful na nagustuhan nila ang acting ko kasi hindi ako uma-acting sa scenes na natatakot ako dahil I was really scared. Hindi kasi sinasabi sa amin ni Direk Joey Reyes beforehand kung ano ang mangyayari sa eksena kaya ginugulat na lang niya talaga kami. For my next project, sana comedy naman ang magawa ko kasi as a child, fan talaga ako ng comedy, like shows na ‘Home Along Da Riles’. So gusto ko namang mag-try ng comedy next time.”
