“2017 is really a good year for me sa dami ng magandang projects na dumating sa akin,” she says. “I thank the Lord for all the blessings at sana magtuloy-tuloy hanggang sa darating na taon.”
Sylvia gets to work with eldest son Arjo Atayde as Paco in “Hanggang Saan”, a family drama about a caring mother, Sylvia as Sonya, who will do anything and everything for the welfare of her children.
“After my role as Gloria in ‘The Greatest Love’, na blessing talaga dahil hindi ko inakalang at my
age, magiging bida pa ako sa teleserye, I thought mahihirapan akong makakuha uli ng isang bagong matinding role but heto, dumating si Sonya, at nagpapasalamat uli ako sa ABS-CBN sa panibagong tiwalang ibinigay nila sa akin, ” says Sylvia.
Does she feel any pressure with “Hanggang Saan” since “Greatest Love” seems like a tough act to follow? “Siempre, oo, kasi very successful ang ‘Greatest Love’. But more than the pressure, I’m thrilled and excited na ipakilala si Sonya in ‘Hanggang Saan’ sa viewers. Iba siya kay Gloria kasi I make sure iniba-iba ko ang body language at mannerisms ko sa bawat role na ginagapanan ko. Dito, pati lakad ko, ginawa kong parang lalake.”
She stresses that Gloria and Sonya are two different faces of a mother. “Nagtitiwala akong si Sonya ang bagong ina na mamahalin ng viewers dahil sa mga ginagawa niyang pagpapakasakit at pagsasakripisyo para sa mga anak niya. Ipapakita niya kung hanggang saan ang makakayang gagawin ng isang ina para proteksyunan ang kanyang mga anak. Natitiyak kong tatatak din si Sonya sa puso’t isipan ng viewers gaya ni Gloria. Masarap ding katrabaho lahat ng artistang kasama sa ensemble dito kasi lahat, magaling, may effort to cooperate and contribute to make sure na mapapaganda namin ang aming bagong show.”
“Hanggang Saan” is directed by Jeffrey Jeturian and Mervyn Brondial and the huge supporting cast includes Ariel Rivera, Teresa Loyzaga, Sue Ramirez, Yves Flores, Maris Racal, Marlo Mortel, Nikko Natividad, Rommel Padilla, Nanding Josef, Anna Luna, Mercedes Cabral, Junjun Quintana, Jenny Miller, Rubi Rubi, Viveika Ravanes, Sharmaine Suarez, Ces Quesada, Arnold Reyes, Maila Gumila and child star Luke Alford as the young Arjo. It will start airing on November 27 replacing “The Promise of Forever”.
