GABBY CONCEPCION, Sunshine Dizon and Ryza Cenon are grinning from ear to ear when we visited them at Celebrity Sports Plaza since everyone is congratulating them. Their afternoon show, “Ika-6 na Utos”, just celebrated it’s first anniversary last week and the ratings remain consistently high. 8.9 recently, which is very high for an afternoon show. It now also has the distinction of being the only soap being shown from Monday to Saturday.
“Everywhere I go now, people call me Jerome or Rome, my name in the story,” says Gabby. “At si Sunshine, Emma ang tawag sa kanya, samantalang si Ryza naman, kinamumuhian bilang Georgia. Ang bonus pa rito, nanalo kami ng international awards for this show. Ako, in Korea at si Sunshine, sa Gawad America. Tapos, all of us won sa 7th OFW Gawad Parangal. Kami ni Shine, best actor and actress and best supporting actress si Ryza. We’re really happy kasi hindi lang toprater ang show namin kundi award-winner pa.”
“At huwag kayong bibitaw dahil sa pagtatapos ng ‘Ika-6 na Utos’ in the next few months, marami pang pasabog na magaganap,” adds Sunshine. “We would like to give credit to our writers and director Laurice Guillen for being so imaginative in coming out with the most intriguing, engaging twists of plots para palaging tumutok sa bawat episode ng ‘Ika-6 na Utos’ ang viewers.”
We ask Gabby if he’d be ready to do his reunion movie with Sharon Cuneta after “Ika-6 Utos” ends? “I think we all need to talk again. As of now, I’m still enjoying doing this show immensely. Sa buong career ko, I can say ito ang most successful teleserye ko. But I’m very happy for her and Robin (Padilla) sa success ng movie nila.”
What can he say about Robin’s statement that he’s actually just a replacement for him? “That’s not true. Kanya talaga yun. Iba yung story for us ni Sharon, iba rin yung sa kanila.”
Taping for “Ika-6 na Utos” will temporarily stop on December 18. “We’ll have a two-week Christmas break, so I will take my wife and daughters for a vacation in the States.”
