Janella Salvador's Dream To Be A Mermaid Becomes True In 'My Fairy Tail Love Story', Admits Elmo Magalona Is Courting Her

 

JANELLA SALVADOR has been quite sickly of late. Her stint in “Maalaala Mo Kaya” and a show she’s supposed to do in Isabela both got postponed because she was confined in a hospital.

“It started with a sore throat and runny nose,” she says at the presscon of her new movie, “My Fairy Tail Love Story”. “I thought I just caught the flu then the next morning, I woke up with a temperature of 39°c, I had rashes everywhere, and I couldn’t get up. My whole body was hurting. The doctor took blood tests from me. My platelet count decreased to below ave­rage. Thank God it wasn’t dengue but I had viral infection.”

Monday night, she made it to the presscon of “My Fairy Tail Love Story”, with Elmo Magalona, Kiko Estrada and Kiray Celis, directed by Perci Intalan, opening on Valentine’s Day. “I play Chantel, a spoiled brat who didn’t listen to the warnings not to disturb a coral formation under the sea, so I was punished and turned into a mermaid. My best friend, Elmo as Noah, learns that to break the curse, I have to get True Love’s kiss from a Prince Charming. Akala ko, my Prince Charming is Kiko Estrada as a DJ who’s the Prince of Electronic Dance Music, so I try my best to get his attention.”

How did she prepare for the role of a mermaid? “It’s no joke. I have to take swimming lessons, mermaid lessons and diving lessons in a diving pool where I had to dive 14 feet deep. But I feel so lucky because not everyone is given the chance to play this role. E, ako, ever since, my favorite fairy tale is the Little Mermaid and dream ko talagang maging mermaid noon pa. So that dream became a reality in this movie. It’s a feel good movie for the whole family and for all lovers who’d watch it on a date on Valentine’s Day.”

So what’s the status between her and Elmo now? “He tells me naman that I am important to him. He’s very maalaga. When I got sick for three days, he visited me everyday and reminds me to take my medicines. But as of now, we’re just enjoying our close friendship and I want us to get to know each other muna better and deeper. There’s no need to rush naman.”
