CHERIE GIL usually spends the holidays with her children who are based abroad, but during the last Christmas season, she chose to stay at home. “I had a knee operation kasi, so for three weeks, I had to stay put,” she says. “Also, my parents (Eddie Mesa and Rosemarie Gil) are here now and I produced my dad’s concert at the Meralco Theatre. I’ll be appearing in a lot of fabulous costumes na mala-Jean Paul Gaultier ang dating and stunning make up and wigs na mahirap but I’m willing to do them all for the sake of fashion and art. They’re all created for me by Fanny Serrano. I haven’t done anything like this before and it’s full of magic and fantastic special effects, so I myself will be delighted to watch it as there’s a little child in me.”
She’s acting with mostly young Kapuso stars like Mikoy Morales, Mikee Quintos, Andre Paras, Klea Pineda, Sef Cadayona and Chariz Solomon. How does she find them?
“Oh I just love the whole cast, especially Mikoy and Mikee. They’re new but talented, very open and authentic. They’re really a good batch of new stars and they make me feel like their well loved Tita.”
Both Mikoy and Mikee say they feel awed working with a respected actress like Cherie. “Nung sabihin sa’king kasama si Ms. Cherie Gil, sabi ko, wow, I saw her in ‘Alyas Robin Hood 1’ and she’s really one fantastic actress,” says Mikoy. “It’s really an honor na makatrabaho ko ang isang iniidolong aktres like her.”
“Sirkus” will start airing tonight at 6:10 PM, right after “24 Oras Weekend”, so don’t miss it’s dazzling first telecast.
