Anne Curtis' Hard Hitting Action Drama, 'Buy Bust', Bought By An American Distribution Company For Release Is The U.S. And Canada

ANNE CURTIS has reason to be proud because her new movie, “Buy Bust”, directed by Erik Matti and written by Anton Santamaria, has been bought by an American company and is now scheduled for an international release. This is not her first film to be released worldwide as she already had “Blood Ransom” in 2014, produced by Tectonic Films in Hollywood. She played a young vampire called Crystal and her co-star then was an American actor, Alexander Dreymon, who even came to Manila to help promote it.

“It’s a big sacrifice shooting ‘Buy Bust’,” says Anne. “I chose to do all my stunts and fight scenes myself. For this, I had to undergo a boot camp training in a school for real life scout rangers. I actually learned how to handle and fire weapons, run around with 12 kilograms of weight on my shoulders and do knife fighting. But it’s all worth it. You can see for yourself in the movie na I didn’t use any double at all.”

In “Buy Bust”, her main co-star is Brandon Vera, a Fil-Am mixed martial arts expert who competed in the UFC and ONE Championship. Their movie is an action-packed thriller about a group of anti-narcotic law enforcers deployed by an anti-drug enforcement agency for a buy bust operation in a slum area. As they try to accomplish their mission, they get trapped inside the lair of drug pushers and addicts, endangering their lives. Their co-stars are Victor Neri, Joross Gamboa, Mara Lopez, AJ Muhlach, Levi Ignacio and Noni Buencamino.

“Buy Bust” was originally submitted in the last Metro-Manila Filmfest but its script was rejected. It’s now co-produced by Viva Films with Dondon Monteverde’s Reality Entertainment. It was earlier scheduled by Viva for a February 28 playdate in our country, but since it was bought for distribution abroad they deciced to withdraw it and postpone its local showing. They will just coincide its release simultaneously when the film hits U.S. and Canadian theaters.

The rights for the exhibition and distribution of “Buy Bust” abroad went to Well Go USA Entertainment led by Dylan Marchetti. It’s the same company that brought the Korean film “Train to Busan” to North America and made it a blockbuster worldwide. Director Erik Matti says “Buy Bust” is “the first full-on local action film in year, a zombie apocalypse without the monsters.”

Well, here’s hoping “Buy Bust” will be as big a blockbuster as “Train to Busan”, which was really a megahit all over the world.
