Glydel Mercado On How She Views Miss World 2013 Megan Young's Acting As Her Daughter In 'The Stepdaughters'

GLYDEL MERCADO appreciates it that after she played the role of a meddlesome stage mother in the fantasy romance, “My Love from the Star”, she now plays the poor but supportive mom of Megan Young in “The Stepdaughters”. Her performance as Luisa, the widowed wife of Allan Paule, got much praise especially in the scenes where she fought back after Angelu de Leon as the contravida Brenda maltreated her young daughter.

“Api-apihan kami rito ni Megan,” she says. “Opposite ng last role ko na sosyal akong ina ni Jennylyn Mercado. Pero hindi ako basta paaapi dahil lalabanan ko talaga sinuman ang mang-api sa’min, like Angelu na pinagtabuyan ko nang makiramay sa burol ng namatay kong asawa.”

So how is it working with the former Miss World 2013? “Actually, nagulat ako kasi first time namin to work together. Hindi lang pala siya beauty queen, kundi may ibubuga rin pagdating sa drama. Sa unang tingin kasi, she looks so simple, palangiti, masayahin, so wala akong masyadong ine-expect. But when we faced the cameras na mabigat ang eksena, may depth naman pala ang acting niya. E, ako very supportive sa mga kaeksena ko, kaya lahat ng dramatic scenes namin, naitawid naman namin nang maayos. Hindi kami nahirapan kasi nakakaarte rin talaga siya.”

She and her husband Tonton Gutierrez are now both certified Kapuso stars as Tonton is also in the cast of the primetime GMA Telebabad show, “Sherlock Jr.”
