LOVI POE was celebrating her birthday right on the day the grand presscon of her new movie, “The Significant Other”, was held so a cake was brought out and everyone sang the birthday song for her. So what’s her birthday wish?
“For myself, wala na siguro,” she says. “I feel I’m already so blessed. Walang tigil ang dating ng projects ko. I have a new TV show, ‘The One That Got Away’, which is rating very well. Then I have a new movie, ‘The Significant Other’, and may sisimulan akong another one, ‘Latay’, with Allen Dizon, so I really cannot complain.”
She’s glad that before her birthday, she is able to celebrate it with the wards of Child Hope Asia Philipines. She treated them to lunch, played with them and gave them toys.
“It’s my fifth year to celebrate it with them and I’m so happy na matulungan silang lahat. My heart is really bursting with happiness that I got to spend time with them as they’re my inspiration. I really look forward to spend time with them every year and I want to thank them for making my birthday extra special and memorable.”
Valentine’s Day is special for her because her Fil-French boyfriend, Chris Johnson, came to spend it with her. Is he really her significant other now? Her Mr. Right? “Well, I’m praying. Sana nga. Sana. Basta right now, we’re just enjoying each other’s company. We’re both very career oriented. I believe that he is one person na I can lean on to, but now it’s just that we’re very focused pa rin sa respective work namin. We’re just going with the flow and we’ve not really talked about settling down.”
What does she find endearing in him? “More than anything else, it’s his being very understanding, very patient. I can be ano kasi, e, very difficult sometimes. So I’m really thankful na talagang understanding siya sa’kin.”
Does Chris understand the love scenes she does with her leading men, like with Tom Rodriguez in “The Significant Other”? “He’s French and you’d think he’s very liberal, pero minsan, lumalabas pa rin yung Filipino side niya and he can quite conservative. So I tell him na bago pa siya pumasok sa buhay ko, andiyan na ‘yang work ko, and I don’t wanna be with anyone who’s gonna restrict me on doing whatever it is that I have to do. Kaya nga, I am very unapolegetic when it comes to these things at wala kang choice but to understand it and I’m very grateful naman na he’s more than supportive sa pagiging actress ko. I won’t hesitate to show him ‘The Significant Other’ kahit may daring scenes ako rito kasi I’m very satisfied with my role as the wife of Tom na pinagpalit niya kay Erich Gonzales. Marami kaming dramatic confrontations na I’m very proud of dahil nagawa naming lahat nang maayos.”
