RICKY DAVAO just returned from a short trip to Europe where he accompanied his youngest daughter Arabella, 20 years old, who will be studying in a catholic university in the quaint but beautiful town of Lisle in Southwestern France.
“We’re renting a small place for her, walking distance lang doon sa university,” he says. “I stayed there for a few days and we explored Lisle together habang classes have not started yet. Noong paalis na ako, umiyak. Nagulat ako kasi hindi iyakin yun, e. She’ll be there by herself but in April, dadalawin naman siya ng mama niya (Jackielou Blanco) roon.”
From Lisle, he went to Paris and later, to Italy. He is thankful that Filipinos who see him are all very helpful, showing him where to get the right rides wherever he is going. Some of them even call him Tita Josie, the gay character he played in the recently concluded GMA show, “My Korean Jagiya”.
“I was wondering where they watched it kasi walang GMA Pinoy TV roon but they said napapanood daw nila sa youtube,” he says. “Nakakatuwa naman.”
Now, he’s back to work. On TV, he will start a new primetime show for GMA, “I Heart Cebu”, topbilled by Barbie Forteza. They will soon be shooting it on location in Cebu. On the big screen, he’s doing two new movies for Star Cinema.
One project is a big movie with Bea Alonzo, Derek Ramsay and Paulo Avelino, where he will play another gay role, a crossdresser at that. Then he is doing a sexy love triangle drama with Diether Ocampo and Nathalie Hart. Nathalie plays his kept woman who falls in love with Diether.
