VIVA FILMS is introducing a new set of potential matinee idols called the FBois to star in their new youth oriented flick, “Squad Goals”, directed by Mark Meily as their summer offering. There are five of them: Julian Trono (who’s paired with Ella Cruz), Andrew Muhlach (half brother of Aga), Jack Reid (brother of James), Vitto Marquez (son of Joey and Alma Moreno) and Daniel Huschka (half German, half Pinoy). Discovering new stars is important since the lifeblood of showbusiness is in continually discovering new screen idols for the public to worship and admire.
Their leading ladies are Ella Cruz for Julian, Samantha Capulong for Andrew, Aubrey Caraan for Daniel, Victoria Pilapil (said to be the granddaughter of Pilar) and Harlene Ocampo for Jack. They will be supported in their launching movie by Patricia Javier, Yayo Aguila, Irma Adlawan, Christopher Roxas, Dennis Padilla, DJ Durano and Giselle Sanchez.
How did the project come up? “Two years nang dine-develop ang project na ito with the late scriptwriter Jake Tordesillas,” says Direk Mark. “We felt it’s about time we have a new version of Viva’s 1984 blockbuster, ‘Bagets’ for today’s millennials. Wala pa yung cast at di mabuo yung story. Finally, nabuo yung cast at nabuo rin ang script. This is about college life, a coming of age movie that will make us feel nostalgic about growing up.”
How did they choose the five boys? “Maraming pinagpilian and they’re the final choices. It took about a year to prepare them. Matindi ang ginawa naming paghahanda before the actual shoot. They had to undergo a camp-workshop for them to bond and get to know each other better since this is a movie about a barkada. Marami silang ginawang group dynamics exercises para mas gumanda ang chemistry nila on screen. They’re all very talented, may kanya-kanya silang skills when it comes to their performances. May magaling kumanta, sumayaw, mag-host, mag-comedy, magdrama. All in, all total package sila.”
Next time, we will tell you more about the individual backgrounds and talents of the five boys.
