REGAL ENTERTAINMENT has decided to break up the love team of Elmo Magalona and Janella Salvador. They will not be seen together for their next projects. And this is just as well after their movie, “My Fairy Tail Love Story”, didn’t do as well as expected at the tills. It didn’t even last for one week in some theaters and its run was not at all extended.
Their previous team ups with ABS-CBN, whether on TV in the teleserye “Born for You” or on the big screen in “Bloody Crayons”, also didn’t fare favorably with TV and movie audiences who are obviously not “kinikilig” with their love team. So now, Janella is paired with newcomer Jameson Blake of Hastags in “So Connected”, directed by Jason Paul Laxamana, while Elmo is doing a barkada movie with other young actors in “Walwal Boys”, directed by Jose Javier Reyes. Well, here’s hoping that these new projects of theirs will perform better at the box office this time.
Folks are asking us why we didn’t review “My Fairy Tail Love Story”. It’s because the director, Perci Intalan, is a good friend of ours. So we’re partial about it and we’d rather not write about our not-so-positive observations on the movie.
Suffice it to say that one reason why people avoided is because of Janella’s lamentable tiff with her own unstoppable mom that undoubtedly had very negative effects on her career. We hope it will not have the same dismal effect on her “So Connected” movie, since it’s obvious that she and her mom are not at all well connected at this point.
