Iza Calzado Says It's Okay Even If She's Bypassed By Editors Awards After She Won In Osaka & And The Star Awards For Her Performance In 'Bliss'

IZA CALZADO won the best actress award for “Bliss” in the Osaka International Filmfest and the recent Star Awards but she’s ignored in the coming Eddy Awards. How does she feel about this? “Okay lang naman yun,” she says, “Each award-giving has its own criteria. Prerogative naman nila yun and it’s their call. I’d like to be a nominee but baka they didn’t find my work worthy enough and let’s just respect their opinion.”

Is it true she’s playing one of the opponents of Liza Soberano in the coming movie, “Darna”? “Ay, si Liza na lang ang tanungin nyo about that. Ang movie na siguradong gagawin ko is our reunion ng co-stars as the Sanggres in ‘Encantadia’, sina Sunshine Dizon, Karylle and Diana Zubiri, to be directed by our Enca director, Mark Reyes. Noon pa pinaplano ang reunion namin, but since magkakaiba na kami ng networks ngayon, sa pelikula lang kami puedeng magkasama as of now. Inaayos pa ang script and our schedules. I’m also supposed to do a Cinemalaya movie for Direk Perci Intalan where I will play the role of a lesbian.”

Isn’t she doing a new TV drama for ABS-CBN with the love team of Julia Barretto and Joshua Garcia? “Yes, but it’s currently on hold. So we don’t know kung kailan matutuloy.”

We thought her wedding to BF Ben Wintle will take place this year? “Baka end of this year, but wala pang details. Basta we plan it to be a destination wedding, hindi ko lang puede pang sabihin kung saang bansa.”
