MIKAEL DAEZ is glad that viewers warmly accepted his first drama series with real life GF Megan Young. Their afternoon soap, “The Stepdaughters”, has been airing for a month now and it’s always numero uno in its slot.
“Nakakatuwa dahil hindi lang mataas ang rating kundi puro positive ang feedback and comments na natatanggap namin sa social media,” he says.
So how is it acting together for the first time? “Noong una, medyo ilang pa siya like in that scene where she’s supposed to throw her shoe at me. Hindi magawa, yung pala she’s worried na baka tamaan nga niya ako at masaktan ako. So ako na ang sumigaw sa kanya ng, ‘Hoy, ibato na yan. Kahit malakas, kakayanin ko yan.’ So na-motivate siya nang husto at noon pa lang niya ginawa. Ang lakas nga ng pagkakabato sa akin.”
What are the pros and cons of working with each other when you’re real life sweethearts? “Unang-una, ano man ang pinagdaraanan nyo sa tunay na buhay, you should set that aside para hindi maapektuhan ang trabaho niya. Dapat, sa set, work mode lang lagi. Labas naman yung relationship sa trabaho namin. But of course, advantage din yung lagi kaming magkasama sa set at nagkaka-bonding. When we’re asked to do romantic scenes, okay rin kasi comfortable na kami sa isa’t isa.”
He denies rumors that they are living in. “Kung totoo, we’ll own it up as we’re both adults naman, but hindi, may kanya-kanya kaming bahay na inuuwian.”
Their love story is starting to build up in “The Stepdaughters”, with Megan as the hardworking and smart Mayumi and Mikael as Francis Almeda, an intelligent, goodlooking guy who falls for her. But it will not be an easy journey for their love story since Katrina Halili as Isabelle also falls for Mikael and is determined to get his attention at all cost. Meantime, Aicelle Santos, who sang the theme song of “The Stepdaughters entitled “Bahagi Ka ng Langit” is all set to leave for abroad to play the role Gigi in the touring company of “Miss Saigon” in the U.K.
