Ryan Eigenmann Returns To ABS-CBN In 'Bagani' After Nine Years Of Doing Soaps With GMA-7

RYAN EIGENMANN used to be with GMA-7 but he now plays the role of Sarimaw, the brother of Diether Ocampo. They are the two deities who are tasked to watch over the alternate universe of Sansinukob in “Bagani”.

“My last show with ABS was nine years ago pa,” he says. “Dire-diretso ako sa GMA kasi I had a contract with them. My contract expired in March of last year but I still did ‘Impostora’ for them, which rated well. When they decided not to renew it, I was back to doing free lance work so when ABS got me for ‘Bagani’, I accepted it. My last soap with them was ‘Lobo’, which was also produced by the same business unit as ‘Bagani’.”

So how is it to be a Kapamilya once again? “It’s okay so far. A lot of fun. Siempre, at first, I was a bit apprehensive kasi 9 years akong wala rito and comfortable na ako sa GMA-7. But first taping day ko pa lang sa ‘Bagani’, they were all very warm. Yung mga hindi ko pa kakilala, they approached me and introduced themselves so I felt relaxed right away and I now love all these guys in ‘Bagani’ that I’m working with.”

Ryan is the eldest son of Gina Alajar and Michael de Mesa. He’s turning 40 on July 22. He and his wife, Cathy Bodalba, have now given his parents three grandchildren. Their third baby, a girl named Rocio Catrice, was born last October 11. Gina says proudly that she now has five grand children: three with Ryan, one with Geoff and one with youngest son AJ who is based in Las Vegas.
