Two New Kapuso Teen Stars Make Waves For Their Breakthrough Performances In 'Kambal, Karibal': Pauline Gomez & Kyline Alcantara

TWO NEWCOMERS got a big boost in their respective careers for their participation in the hit Kapuso primetime drama-fantasy series, “Kambal, Karibal”. These are Pauline Mendoza and Kyline Alcantara whose fine acting was quickly noticed by the viewers. Pauline plays Criselda, the fraternal twin sister of Bianca Umali as Crisanta. She died as a child but returns as a bad spirit who becomes Bianca’s rival for the affection of Miguel Tanfelix.

Pauline started as a model for a clothing brand then she auditioned with GMA Artist Center who then got her and started giving her supporting roles in their shows. “I first played the role of Barbie Forteza’s younger sister in “That’s My Amboy”, then isinama ako sa cast of “Alyas Robin Hood 1” and “My Love from the Star”,” she says. “Most challenging role ko itong ‘Kambal, Karibal’ kasi nga multo ang role ko at ka-love triangle ko sina Bianca at Miguel dito.”

Pauline was born on October 5, 1999. Her real name is Pauline Bianca Esquieres and Mendoza is just a screen name. Her dad is half-Spanish, which explains her mestiza features, and she’s an only child. She’s in grade 12 and will be graduating from high school this March.

Meantime, Kyline Alcantara is impressing a lot of people for her role as Cheska, the possessed girl in “Kambal, Karibal”. “Happy po ako sa role ko na sinasaniban ako ni Pauline para akitin si Miguel,” she says. “Very challenging ang role kasi pabago-bago ang moods at acting ko. Enjoy po ako kasi lumalabas yung pagkamaldita ko and enjoy akong magbaliw-baliwan.”

When she’s in full make up, she looks like she’s in her early 20s but the truth is she is only 15 years old. “I was born po on September 3, 2002,” she says. “I started acting when I was 7. Child actress po akong kontrabida kay Andrea Brillantes sa ‘Anna Liza’. I was also in ‘Mutya’, ‘Pangako SaYo’, ‘Lumayo Ka Man sa Akin’ at last ko po sa ABS ang ‘Born for You’. Nag-audition ako sa GMA Artist Center at nakuha nga akong kontrabida rito sa ‘Kambal, Karibal’. Nagpapasalamat ako dahil dito ako napansin nang husto. Also, ang babait ng lahat ng kasama ko show. Friends ko sina Miguel and Bianca at ang mga iba pang kasama namin, para ko na silang mga kamag-anak dahil very caring lahat sila.”

She’s being bashed for her contravida role in “Kambal, Karibal” but she doesn’t mind. “Dedma na lang to all the hate messages kasi ginagawa ko lang naman what Direk Don Michael Perez tells me to do. But sabi nga nila, I get bashed kasi effective ako sa ginagawa ko. And everywhere I go now, nare-recognized na ako at Cheska ang tawag sa’kin.”
