GLYDEL MERCADO is a mainstay in GMA-7’s “The Stepdaughters” where she plays the mother of Megan Young and they’re both oppressed by Katrina Halili, the daughter of Glydel’s second husband, Gary Estrada. But although on screen, nag-aaway kami, sa set ng taping namin, magkakaibigan kaming lahat at enjoy kami working with each other.”
She’s now glad to be part of the coming Cine Filipino Film Festival that starts showing on May 9. She plays Claudia, the mother of Shy Carlos in the entry, “Poon (The Image”), about the image of a saint that she brings to their home and starts a terrifying series of events in their lives.
“Bago yung director namin, si Ron Supangan Bernaid,” Glydel tells us at the presscon of Cine Filipino in Gateway. “Writer siya sa Viva and first directorial job niya ito. Although he’s new, he knows what he’s doing and I’m sure those who love horror drama will enjoy watching the movie and get a good scare.”
How is it working with Shy Carlos? “First time namin to work together and okay siya. Nagkasundo kami agad and maganda ang rapport namin, which is important kasi mag-ina ang role namin dito sa movie. Kasama namin dito si Yayo Aguila, Mon Confiado and Chanel Latorre.”
