Julie Anne San Jose Paired With Two Leading Men, Kiko Estrada And Gil Cuerva In 'My Guitar Princess', While BF Benjamin Alves Also Has Two Leading Ladies In His Own New Show

JULIE ANNE SAN JOSE was last seen in the afternoon soap, “Pinulot Ka Lang Sa Lupa” with LJ Reyes. She now goes solo and plays the title role no less in “My Guitar Princess”, the new morning show that will replace “Ang Forever Ko’y Ikaw” before “Eat Bulaga”. As Celina, she’s a talented young woman who loves to sing and play the guitar, but feels insecure about her gifts.

“I really want to thank GMA for giving me this project because I can totally relate with my role,” she says at the show’s presscon. “It’s about family and following your dreams. Very light at marami kaming musical production numbers every week that will surely please the viewers. What I love about Celina is mahal niya ang mom niya, played by Ms. Sheryl Cruz as Adele, kasi ganun din naman ako in real life. Ms. Sheryl and I worked before in ‘Buena Familia’ but contravida siya roon, unlike here na mag-ina kami so we really became close. I want to thank her for generously sharing with me her words of wisdom.”

She has two leading men in the show. Kiko Estrada as Justin is Celina’s good friend who falls in love with her while Gil Cuerva as Elton is a balikbayan singer known as the Prince Charming of Pop. Please take note that since the show is a musical, all the characters are named after famous foreign singers. Isabelle de Leon and Jazz Ocampo play Kiko’s sisters who are contravida in his love affair with Celina. Their names are Taylor (but not Swift) and Katy (but not Perry).

Marika Sasaki is Celina’s best friend named Britney (but not Spears) while Celina’s dad is Kier Legaspi as Elvis (but not Presley.) Also in the cast are comedian Maey Bautista as Celina’s yaya, Dolly (but not Parton), Frank Garcia as Gil’s dad, George (but not Michael) and Lui Manansala as Manang Barbra (but not Streisand). Directing the show is Nick Olanka, a former Kapamilya. This is his first project with GMA-7. A few years ago, he had a stroke with two aneurysms that could have paralyzed or killed him. But he miraculously survived this health crisis and is now back to the one thing he loves the most, directing.

Going back to Julie Anne, isn’t her inamorato, Benjamin Alves, not jealous that she has no less than two leading men in “My Guitar Princess”? “No, he’s very happy for me and is totally supportive. Siya rin naman, may new show at dalawa ring ang kapareha niya.”

She’s referring to “Karibal Ko ang Aking Ina” where Benjamin will be the objection of attention of mother and daughter Sunshine Cruz and Bea Binene.
