Mike Enriquez, Arnold Clavio, Ali Sotto & Joel Reyes Zobel Reveal The Secret Of The Success Of Their Show 'Double B Sa News TV' That Celebrates Its First Anniversary

 

MIKE ENRIQUEZ, Arnold Clavio, Ali Sotto and Joel Reyes Zobel are currently celebrating the 1st anniversary of their hit TV and radio show, “Double B sa News TV”, seen on GMA News TV and heard on DZBB from 6 AM to 11 AM weekdays. And they’re proud that their show is on the number one spot in MegaManila with a rating of 37.40 percent in the last quarter of 2017 and also in the first quarter of 2018 with 35.40 percent, per AGB Nielsen, with DZBB as the number one AM radio station.

“Nagpapasalamat kami sa lahat ng viewers and listeners namin,” says Ali. “It’s a humbling experience na niluklok nila kami sa number one spot, so we promise na mas pagbubutihin pa namin ang aming paglilingkod sa kanila. We look forward to more anniversaries to come. Malaking plus yung hindi lang kami naririnig kundi napapanod pa para mas lalo kaming maging responsable. Radyo na, TV pa. But it’s a lot of hard work kasi gigising ka ng madaling araw para mag-check na agad ng balita online. And for me, I have to do my own hair and makeup kasi nga on cam na kami. Yung songs namin sa Jeng Jeng portion, pinaghihirapan din namin yung buuin araw-araw.”

What’s their secret? “I think our audience see na we really enjoy what we’re doing and we also enjoy each other’s company,” says Arnold. “Masarap na feeling din yung marami kaming nahahatiran ng sariwang balita at napapasaya namin ang kanilang mga umaga. Worth it yung paggising namin ng 4 AM everyday.”



We ask them what they’ve discovered to be each other’s most endearing qualities since they started working together.

“Si Igan (Arnold), andaming good qualities,” says Ali. “We’ve been together on radio since 1997 and I always feel na he’s got my back. Kung kailangan ko siya, puede ko siyang tawagan at takbuhan anytime. Si Mike, he doesn’t make me feel na he’s my boss. His best gift to me is that he believes in me. I’m on radio because of him. Siyang nagbigay ng break sa’kin in broadcasting. Si Joel naman, he welcomed me agad and sa short time na nakilala ko siya, kinuha akong ninang sa recent binyag ng kanyang first baby na si Pia Ysobel.”

“Si Mike, parang tatay ko yan, si Ali ang nanay at si Joel ang younger brother,” says Igan. “Everyday, they inspire me sa aming pagbabatuhan sa ere. Si Mike, tag team na kami. Kami raw ang bagong Dolphy and Panchito. Wala kaming iwanan. Si Ali, she’s always full of knowledge at alam kong ipaglalaban niya ako. Si Joel, he’s a good good friend.”

“I didn’t expect Ali to be that warm kasi artista siya, singer pa,” says Joel. “She gives me the best working environment. Si Arnold, laging maaasahan. He brings out the best in me even when we play golf. Mike is a very strict boss but a good friend also. Malaki utang na loob ko sa kanya as he gave me the best break sa career ko.”

“Isa lang ang masasabi ko about them,” says Mike. “Kung bibigyan uli ako ng chance to repeat my life, lalo na sa broadcasting, wala akong ibang hahangaring makatrabaho kundi silang tatlo pa rin. At yun ding mga taga-operations namin sa DZBB na siyang kumakayod araw-araw to make sure we give our best to our listeners and viewers everyday.”

One of the show’s best sellers is the Sino blind items Arnold dishes out everyday. “Hindi tsismis ang mga yun, ha,” he says. “They’re true at reminders sila sa ating government officials na mag-ingat sila dahil may mga matang nagmamasid at nagbabantay sa mga galaw at tinitimbre agad sa’min ang kanilang misbehavior.”
