DEREK RAMSAY says his new movie, “Kasal”, is not his comeback flick with ABS-CBN, simply because in 2014, he did “Ex With Benefits” with Coleen Garcia and in 2016, he did three movies with them: “Etiquette for Mistresses”, “All You Need is Pag-ibig” and “Pangil” about a killer crocodile directed by Toto Natividad.
“Comeback ito, but with Bea,” he says. “Kasi after we did ‘And I Love You So’, we were doing another movie pero hindi natuloy kasi lumipat nga ako sa TV5.”
So does this mean he will now do new TV shows as a Kapamilya? “Dahan-dahan lang muna. Baby steps. My contract with TV5 just expired. After ‘Kasal’, I will take a short vacation then I’m supposed to start a new movie with them again next month. Lagi ko namang sinasabi that it’s ABS that made me who I am today. I missed the people I worked with here before in teleseryes and movies. I would definitely want to work with them all again. But we still have to sit down and see what the network has in store for me. So, mag-uusap pa.”
Since his new movie, “Kasal”, is about getting marriage, folks would like to know if he believes in it. “Of course, I do. I read before na sinabi ko raw na I don’t believe in it but it’s not true. My parents have been happily married for 40 plus years and they’re perfect role models for me, so I believe in marriage. But dapat, paghandaan yan kasi it needs complete commitment to your partner.”
So how is it working with Bea once again? “I’ve always been a big fan of Bea so it’s great to work with her again. She’s the number one leading lady in the movies now and I’d like to perhaps do a teleserye with her someday.”
