How come he chose the title “Kasal” when there are two other films with the same title before, directed by Laurice Guillen and Jay Altarejos? “I informed Direk Laurice about it kasi I was her script assistant before at inay ko siya. Sabi ko, may gagawin akong movie about a wedding, but not like hers. E, nagdiskusyon kami ng mga kasama ko at wala kaming makitang ibang title na babagay sa story that we want to tell. Ang word na kasal kasi, may ibang appeal sa atin. It represents crossroads at dito sa movie, it becomes a moral dilemma, a big conflict for Bea’s character. As her wedding nears, it’s like a ticking time bomb and she has to face her fears. Ikakasal na siya kay Paulo Avelino who comes from a political family, then someone from her past, Derek Ramsay, suddenly returns and she has to make new decisions about love and life.”
He’s happy to have a wonderful cast that includes Christopher de Leon and Cherie Gil as the parents of Paulo, RIcky Davao as Bea’s dad whose role will surely shock the viewers as it's very controversial, and Celeste Legaspi as Bea’s grandma. “I’m proud of our finished film. The characters are very complex and it’s very challenging to tell their stories but the actors helped and collaborated in making my work easier."
“Kasal” opens today in theaters nationwide.
