JANELLA SALVADOR’s new movie, “So Connected”, will be a crucial test for her. In her past films like “Bloody Crayons” and “My Fairy Tail Love Story”, she’s paired with her regular ka-love team, Elmo Magalona. This time, she’s paired with Jameson Blake, a promising newcomer discovered in PBB who won an acting award in his first movie, “2 Cool 2B 4gotten”, and also made an impression in other films like “Nay”, “Nabubulok”, “Haunted Forest”. Aside from “So Connected”, he’s also in another new movie, “Ang Babaeng Allergic sa Wifi”.
In the story, Janella plays Trisha, a simple waitress in a carinderia who’s heart got broken by an erring boyfriend. Jameson is Karter, a boy who’s just been dumped by his girlfriend. They meet by chance and it’s as if they are connected by fate.
“It’s about strangers who are actually soulmates that they feel so connected by love,” says Janella.
The movie is written and directed by the prolific Jason Paul Laxamana and it’s something millennial viewers can easily feel so connected with it as it features today’s gadgets, latest apps and the dominance of social media.
Will Janella’s love team with Jameson prove to be more successful at the box office than her team up with Elmo. That’s what we will find out when the movie opens in theaters on May 23. Meantime, what can Janella say about the fans of her Elnella love team with Elmo who’s now bashing Jameson? “They should appreciate the fact that Elmo and I are paired with other stars kasi it’s for our own good. It helps us grow as actors at para hindi rin sila agad magsawa. Si Jameson, magaling umarte at okay katrabaho. So, huwag naman silang masyadong possessive. Before they bash, give us a chance naman. Panoorin muna nila ang ‘So Connected’ before they judge kasi maganda ang movie and we’re really proud of it.”
Honestly, though, we think Regal should not worry about these pesky fans. If they really have such a big clout, then they would have made the past films of ElNella, “Bloody Crayons” and “My Fairy Tail Love Story”, big blockbusters. But it’s common knowledge that both movies didn’t do well at the box office. Even their soap, “Born for You”, didn’t rate well, so its airing was prematurely terminated. The irony of it all would be if Janella’s pairing with Jameson in “So Connected” will be more successful at the tills than the movies she did with Elmo.
