But in the Cine Filipino Filmfest that opens in selected theaters today, they will not be a team but they’ll actually be rivals as they are in competing films. Joross is in the romcom-thriller, “Mga Mister ni Rosario”, while Edgar Allan or EA is in the war-drama “Mata Tapang”.
“Playing my role as a method actor who brings home the roles he plays in his movies is no joke,” he says. “Nakakapagod, kasi naging pari ako, singer, lolo, bakla, aso, asong bakla. Ha ha ha! Feeling niya, kailangan niyang manalo ng award kasi kung hindi, malalaos na siya. Yung wife ko rito, si Kate Alejandrino, very supportive at first kasi scriptwriter naman siya. She plays along, pwera na lang when I’m assigned the role of a murderer at siya ang gusto kong patayin. Comedy ito pero naging suspense-thriller dahil she wants to survive. At kahit baguhan lang si Kate, magaling siya. She auditioned at doon pa lang, nakita na naming bagay siya sa role.”
Joross is really so busy these days. He’s doing another movie, “‘Tol” with Jessy Mendiola and Arjo Atayde, produced by Erik Matti and directed by Miko Livelo. And he’s also directing his first movie, “Allergic to Love”, the first starring role of Cholo Barretto and Chienna Filomeno of Girltrends. Doesn’t he feel envious that after they did “Dedma Walking”, it’s only Edgar Allan who’s winning acting awards and is now nominated again in the coming Eddy and Famas Awards? “Not at all. I’m happy for him. Ang panalo ni EA, panalo ko na rin kasi we’re like brothers.”
