VITTO MARQUEZ is one of the more promising newcomers being introduced by Viva Films in their new youth barkada movie, “Squad Goals”. He can very well have his own solo career later on. Now 22, he’s one of the children of Alma Moreno and Joey Marquez. How old was he when his parents separated?
“Siguro about 5 or 6 years old ako,” he says. “Hindi ko naman naiintindihan what was happening. Teenager na ako when I became more aware kung ano ang nangyari sa kanila. But growing up, pinalaki kaming lahat ng mga kapatid ko na they never showed any hostility sa isa’t isa so naunawaan namin agad yung paghihiwalay nila and they eventually had other partners. Close din kami sa aming half brothers and sisters. We even met yung mga naging karelasyon nila at Ate or Kuya ang tawag namin.”
He joined showbiz on his own and not asking the help of either of his parents. “Nang mag-audition ako sa ABS-CBN for Hashtags, never kong sinabi kung sino ang parents ko. I’d like to think nakuha ko on my own merits. At ngayon, nakuha naman ako ng Viva at binigyan ako ng break sa movies dito sa ‘Squad Goals’. Enjoy naman ako sa ginagawa ko at sana, tanggapin ako ng tao.”
In “Squad Goals”, Vitto plays the role of Tom whose parents, just like in real life, are an actress and a former basketball player. He’s taking up hotel & restaurant management in the story and is very popular in campus as he’s the team captain of their varsity team and is considered as the IT Guy in school.
But unfortunately, he gets entangled in some naughty and mischievous acts with his friends: Julian Trono, Jak Reid, Andrew Muhlach and Daniel Huschka. How they get out of the hilarious and exciting misadventures they get into and get to pursue their own respective dreams is what “Squad Goals” is all about as it opens in theaters on Wednesday.
