Carlitos is also busy directing a play for the CPP’s Virgin Labfest. He’s directing, “Ang mga Propesyunal”, written by new Bicolano playwright Sari Saysay. The play is about a doctor, a writer and a policeman who have to cope with the current political climate and try to speak the truth about corruption around them despite possible risky consequences.
The young cast is headed by new actors Jian Tayco and Krystle Campos, both in their mid-teens. It will start its run on June 28 at the CCP Little Theatre. This is Carlitos’ second play after last year’s “Nothing But Dreams” which dealt with racism. After this, he will go back to the movies directing a new film for Star Cinema.
Meantime, the son of Bibeth and Carlitos, Rafa Siguion Reyna, also has a play in Virgin Labfest entitled “Edgar Allan Hemingway” written by Carlo Vergara of “Zsa Zsa Zaturnaaah” and directed by George de Jesus. His co-stars are Ricci Chan and Huelan Luarca.
Rafa is also in the cast of “Goyong, Ang Batang Heneral”. On TV, he is seen on GMA’s hit primetime drama, “Kambal, Karibal”, as the confidante of Marvin Agustin. He was also allowed by GMA Artist Center to do another show with ABS-CBN online.
Both the plays of Carlitos and Rafa, “Ang Mga Propesyunal” and “Edgar Allan Hemingway”, are included in the SET B of Virgin Lab plays to be shown together on June 28, 3 PM & 8 PM, and on July 1, 3PM. Check with CCP for other playdates.
