He appears in a number of scenes without his shirt on, revealing his buff and lean body with his well defined muscles. “Actually, nagkaroon kami ng screen test at kinabahan ako kasi sa umpisa pa lang, puro topless scenes na agad ang pinagawa sa akin.”
Director Gil Tejada says they have to be sure that Benjamin is hunky and yummy enough to be the object of affection of a mother and daughter tandem. And Benjamin proved that he is very much qualified to play the role of the ruggedly handsome young man who first becomes the boyfriend of Bea Binene, but they break up due to her parents’ objections, and later on becomes the lover of her Sunshine, who Bea doesn’t know is her real biological mother. “Si Bea talaga ang unang nakilala ko rito,” says Benjamin. “May nang-snatch ng bag niya sa public market where I work at tinulungan ko siya to get it back. Naging kami pero ayaw ng parents niya sa’kin, sina Zoren Legaspi and Bing Loyzaga, so we broke up. Yung father ko, driver naman ni Miss Sunshine, at nang mawala ang father ko, akong pumalit sa kanya at nagkaroon naman kami ng relasyon ni Miss Sunshine.”
He says that when they shot the GMA Christmas plug last year, he and Bea got to talk to each other for the firs time and he asked her what her next project would be. “We both didn’t know na kami pala ang susunod na magkapareha rito sa ‘Kapag Nahati ang Puso.’ Sabi ko, baka narinig ng management yung pag-uusap namin kaya kami na ang pinagtambal ngayon.”
