MOTHER LILY MONTEVERDE of Regal Entertainment celebrated her 80th birthday last Sunday night with a bang at the Crowne Plaza Ballroom for 1,500 people. She comes into the ballroom with a retinue of dancers and she obviously rehearsed it a lot as she is dancing in synchronicity with them.
Give na give ang pagsasayaw niya. They went up on stage and the dance number went on for around 15 minutes. Of course, everyone is amazed that she can do such a strenous dance number at her age. Showbiz and politics are well represented among the guests.
Star for All Seasons and Rep. Vilma Santos leads them and she is asked to come up on stage to say a few words about the celebrant. But naturally, she praises Mother Lily for being a big part of her career since Regal produced several of her award-winning films, including “Relasyon” in 1982, “Broken Marriage” in 1983 and “Sister Stella L” in 1984. She says if there’s one film she can never do, it will be the life story of Mother Lily. “Napakahirap na role, hindi ko makakaya!” she says, which made Mother Lily laugh.
Other guests include Sharon Cuneta and Sen . Kiko Pangilinan, Susan Roces and Sen. Grace Poe, Lorna Tolentino, Sen. Loren Legarda, Rep. Imelda Marcos and daughter Imee, Maricel Soriano, Sen. Win Gatchalian, former House Speaker Sonny Belmonte, Ai Ai de las Alas, Eric Quizon, Ruffa Gutierrez, ToFarm Filmfest director Bibeth Orteza, Directors Jose Javier Reyes, Chito Rono, Carlitos Siguion Reyna, Jeffrey Jeturian, Ruel Bayani, writer-actress Raquel Villavicencio, lovebirds Mark Herras and Winwyn Marquez, Angel Locsin and Neil Arce, Barbie Forteza and Jak Roberto, Kiko Estrada and Devon Seron, Aljur Abrenica and Kylie Padilla, Derrick Monasterio, TV execs Charo and Malou Santos, Wilma Galvante, Lilybeth Rasonable, Marian Rivera and Dingdong Dantes, Vhong Navarro, Enzo Pineda, and many more. To Mother Lily, the industry loves you. Please continue producing more movies and we hope they will all do well in the box office.
