MOTHER LILY MONTEVERDE hosted a special thanksgiving dinner and victory party for “Unli Life” and “Signal Rock”. “Unli Life” is one of the Pista ng Pelikulang Pilipino’s topgrossers, earning P40 million in six days. It stars Vhong Navarro who gets to do time travel after his girlfriend Winwyn Marquez dumps him just before he formally proposes marriage to her.
Vhong Navarro is, of course, very happy with the box office success of “Unli Life”, as well as his other co-stars like Joey Marquez, Ejay Falcon, Jon Lucas, Isabel de Leon, Dimples Romana, Joem Bascon, Epi Quizon and Jhong Hilario. Winwyn says she’s so thankful that the very first movie she did is a box office success. “Thanks to Regal and to Vhong sa binigay nilang tiwala sa akin,” she adds. “I’ve seen the movie three times at tawa pa rin ako nang tawa.”
“Signal Rock” won the critics choice award for best picture at the Pista ng Pelikulang Pilipino’s thanksgiving night at White Space Makati last Sunday, while its lead actor, Christian Bables, got the special jury prize for outstanding acting. So they have good reason to celebrate. The film has also officially been invited to two international film festivals and will have a special screening at the UP Film Institute on September 4 and 5. Direk Chito says he will soon have a special screening for the inhabitants of Biri Island who helped him in making the movie which was shot there on location.
Christian personally expressed his gratitude to Chito: “Direk Chito, my award is for you. For all the genuine love, care and trust you gave me in choosing me to play Intoy. Thank you for being my rock. And I want to thank and share the award with all my co-actors, staff and crew who all worked hard while we were shooting in Biri Island in Samar. Atin ito and I feel so blessed to have worked with all of you.”
