Her real full name is Keith Eliana Sesante and Valdez is her mom’s maiden name. She was first introduced as the sister of Ken Chan in the hit afternoon soap, “Destiny Rose”. This was followed by her breakout role as Mira, the daughter of Pirena, in “Encantadia”. She then did several guestings in “Magpakailanman”, “Daig Kayo ng Lola Ko”, “Dear Uge”, “Maynila” and other shows.
She now gets another meaty role in “Onanay” as the elder daughter of Jo Berry, who plays Onay. “I couldn’t believe it when I was first informed na makakasama ako sa isang primetime soap at puro magagaling na aktres ang kasama ko,” she says. “Imagine, Nora Aunor and Cherie Gil, mga tinitingalang aktres sa local showbiz, at directed pa by another acting great, Gina Alajar. I felt so blessed na makatrabaho ko sila, lalo’t baguhan lang ako na wala pang pruweba sa pag-arte. Para akong kumukuha ng personalized acting workshop working with them.”
Kate looks radiant at her debut, with her looking like a princess with her green gown and a tiara on her head. The theme of the affair is underwater wonderland with the ballroom adorned with flowers and the lighting highlighted with blue colors to make you feel you’re under the sea.
Kapuso co-stars who greeted her in the party include Mikee Quintos (who plays her sister in “Onanay”), Sanya Lopez, Inah de Belen, Arra San Agustin, Ruru Madrid, Andre Paras, Migo Adecer, Bruno Gabriel, Mika de la Cruz, and singer Hannah Prescillas.
And what’s her birthday wish? “Sana po, lalong tumaas ang ratings gabi-gabi ng ‘Onanay’. Nagpapasalamat kaming lahat ng mga kasama ko sa mga walang sawang sumusuporta sa amin. At sana, mas lalo pang gumanda ang takbo ng showbiz career ko.”
Is it true she and Mikee Quintos are not really in good terms as they’re always quarreling on the set of “Onanay”? “Naku, hindi po. We’ve been the best of friends since magkasama kami sa ‘Encantadia’. Sa ‘Onanay’ lang kami nag-aaway kasi nasa story yun. Ako, inampon ng lola naming si Cherie Gil so spoiled brat ako. Si Mikee, naiwan sa nanay naming si Jo Berry and sa lola naming si Nora Aunor, kaya hindi kami magkasundo. But in real life, magkaibigan po talaga kami at nag-duet pa nga po kami sa kantang ‘Panaginip’ noong debut ko. Nagulat nga kami when someone wrote na nagpaplastikan lang daw kami, na hindi talaga totoo.”
