CARLA ABELLANA’s last soap was “I Heart Davao” about a year ago so she’s glad to be taping a new soap on GMA-7, “Pamilya Roces”, where she heads the star-studded cast. She plays Crystal, the eldest sister in the Roces’ extended family. The dad is Roi Vinzon and he has three wives: Gloria Diaz, Elizabeth Oropesa and Ana Roces.
Carla is the daughter of Gloria and she will be in conflict with one of her sisters over Rocco Nacino. “Kakaiba yung role ko rito kasi it’s so not me,” says Carla. “Opposite ng totoong personality ko kasi masungit siya, mainitin ang ulo. Sa past soaps na ginawa ko, ako lagi yung inaapi, umiiyak, pero dito, ibang Carla ang mapapanood ng viewers kaya maraming masosorpresa.”
Rocco Nacino is elated to work with Carla. “Noong sumali ako sa Starstruck, she’s one of the hosts kaya nakakatuwa na ngayon, kapareha ko na siya,” he says. “It’s quite an achievement for me to be working with a fine and very professional actress like her, and with Direk Joel Lamangan directing us.”
The other cast members of “Pamilya Roces” include Jasmine Curtis Smith, Sophie Albert and Shaira Diaz, who all used to be with TV5, with Sophie and Shaira as discoveries of their star search called Artista Academy. How did they find working with Carla who’s a bonafide Kapuso since she started in showbiz?Shaira says she’s happy to be working with Carla in the show. “She’s very accommodating kaya hindi ako nahirapang makipag-relate sa kanya,” she says. “Para talagang Ate siya sa aming mga kasama niya. Madalas kaming nagkukuwentuhan in between takes. Pareho kaming mahilig sa aso, she shares tips about make up and about our careers. Masaya talaga kaming lahat sa set. Sana mag-click sa viewers ang aming show para maging mas matagal ang pagsasama naming lahat sa taping dahil we’re getting to be a real big happy family kaya bagay talaga ang titulo ng show naming ‘Pamilya Roces’. Kaya abangan nyo dahil malapit na itong umere.”
