In her second movie early this year, “Kasal”, she surprised everyone with her fiery, sultry portrayal of Paulo Avelino’s liberated first girlfriend who betrays him and reveals his secret to Derek Ramsay. She also had a daring love scene with Derek.
“I’m glad a lot of people liked my performance in that movie,” she says. “Maski ako, I surprised myself na kaya ko palang gawin what I did, lalo na in my scene with Derek Ramsay.”
This is the reason why she’s now so happy with her role in her new movie, Viva Films’ sex comedy,
“Abay Babes”, that opens in theatres today. “My role here is the complete opposite of my role in ‘Kasal’,” she says. “Manang na manang ako rito kasi sa barkadahan namin nin Cristine Reyes, Natalie Hart and Roxanne Barcelo, ako yung naging madre. Yes, I play the role of a nun.”
Why was she the one chosen by Director Dominic Cuaresma to play the nun’s role? “Siguro because I come from beauty pageants and most of the roles offered to me, yung maganda ako, strong woman, like in ‘Kasal’. So personally, I’m thankful na ito ang role given to me kasi iba ang challenge nito para sa akin. I’m so deglamorized here. This is something really new for me kasi malayo siya sa personality ko in real life. WIth the help of Direk Dom, I think naitawid ko naman yung character ko as Perla nang maayos.”She enjoyed shooting the film with her co-stars, including Meg Imperial who’s not really a part of their barkada but served as their videographer in the wedding of Roxanne to Tom Rodriguez. “We shot the film on location in Misibis Bay, Albay. One week kami roon. So we had enough time for bonding, kuwentuhan, chikahan, and we all really became good friends. Up to now na tapos na yung movie, nagkukumustahan kami.”
But her nun role doesn’t mean she’s turning her back on sexy ones. Recently, she posted a hot video showing her in a two-piece bikini posing in front of the mirror looking like she’s so proud of her curvaceous body. “I’m so glad very positive naman ang response ng mga tao sa video ko,” she says. “Ang daming comments na ‘Wow! Ang ganda ng katawan!’ Well, pinaghirapan ko naman yun sa gym and I’m glad it paid off. Siguro I lost 10 lbs. because of my work outs. Nakakatuwa kasi mismong ang mga namamahala ng Miss International, nag-message sa akin, saying ‘That’s why you won as Miss International’. O di ba? Nakakatuwa. Very supportive naman sila.”
She admits she has a non-showbiz boyfriend. What’s his reaction to her sexy video? “He’s proud. Very supportive. After all, he’s assured naman na sa kanya na ako. Ha ha ha! But yun ang gusto ko talaga sa kanya, supportive siya sa buong career ko at hindi ako pinagbabawalan.”
