“I’ve known this show since I was a little girl and I know it has millions of followers not only locally but also abroad,” she says. “My own grandma is a loyal fan of the show and it’s her wish for her to see me join it someday so, here I am, making her wish come true. There are other acting offers but I don’t think I’m ready for them. I’d rather try something new, like venturing into live television, and what better way to start your career on TV than being part of the most successful show in the country which has been going on for 40 years now.”
But her initial foray into hosting a noontime show hit a snag when some bashers complained that she’s not good with her Tagalog. “I know. I admit that I have yet to learn a lot more to be as good as my other co-hosts and one of them is learning to speak Tagalog more fluently so I can connect better with the audience.”There are other bashers, but she doesn’t focus on them. “I’ve prepared myself for them. Once you decide to be in the eye of the public, bear in mind that you’re not going to please everyone. It’s best to just dwell on the good comments that help encourage you and just focus on the positive things.”
Maureen was born on June 22, 1998 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia with a Pinay mom and a German dad. She’s the third of four daughters, She lived in Riyadh until she was 12, when her mom died and their died took her and her sisters to Germany. At 18, she moved to the Philippines to start a modeling career and she was made to audition in “Asia’s Next Top Model 5th Season”, where she won over 14 contestants, becoming the first candidate from the Philippines to win in the contest.
