Kim Chiu Proud To Be Lead Actress In Regal's Metro-Manila FilmFest Entry, 'One Great Love', Where She Does Love Scenes With Dennis Trillo And JC De Vera

KIM CHIU plays her most mature dramatic role to date as a young woman torn between two men in Regal Entertainment's Metro-Manila filmfest entry, “One Great Love”, written by Gina Marissa Tagasa and directed by Eric Quizon. Didn’t she have any second thoughts about accepting the role that requires her to do some daring love scenes? “When I was informed that may offer sa’kin ang Regal at pang-adult daw yung kuwento, siempre, ni-request ko munang mabasa yung script,” she says. “Papunta ako noon abroad for an event, and I brought the script with me, binasa ko sa loob ng plane. Naku, nagandahan ako, hindi ko na nabitiwan. So pagbaba ko sa plane, tumawag ako agad and told them I’m accepting the role kasi I just loved the script.”

Kim’s leading men in the film are Dennis Trillo and JC de Vera. “First time ko to work with Dennis and also with Direk Eric Quizon. Tapos, Ms. Roselle Monteverde told me ihahabol daw isali sa Metro-Manila Filmfest so mas na-excite ako. Ang maganda sa story, it’s more of an internal struggle noong character ko. Tahimik siya, at ni walang scene na magkaka-confrontation yung dalawang lalaki. Walang mga eksenang sigawan, awayan, sampalan o pisikalan. What the movie wants to prove is kung totoo pa ba yung feeling na One Great Love or abstract concept na lang siya. No one falls in love then stays in love by chance. Ano ba talaga ang pagkakaiba ng One Great Love sa True Love, or First Love, or Obsessive Love? That will be answered here. Bale four stages of love ang ipapakita rito: falling in love, staying in love, learning to let go, and finding your own true self. Ibang Kim din ang makikita rito, not the usual teeny-bopper, pa-sweet or pa-cute na Kim o yung Kim sa horror movies na ginawa ko. Bukod sa love story, may family issues din involved dito. So complete package siya for the whole family in time for the Chrismas season.”


Since she plays a very demanding role as the lead character who faces the various challenges of love, does she think she has good chances of winning the best actress award in the Metro filmfest?

“Ay, wala akong ganung expectation. I’m just thankful na sa’kin napunta ang napakagandang project na ito at nakapasok kami sa festival. We’re all very proud of what we’ve done. More than winning awards, mas gusto naming panoorin ito ng mas maraming tao and I assure the viewers na hindi kami mapapahiya sa kanila kapag pinanood nila ito dahil napakaganda talaga ng ‘One Great Love’.”
