RAYVER CRUZ is no longer doing a supporting role like what he did before as a Kapamilya. Now that he has opted to be a Kapuso, he is quickly given a lead role as the man torn between Kris Bernal and Thea Tolentino in the new afternoon soap, “Asawa Ko, Karibal Ko” that starts airing on October 22 to replace “The Stepdaughters”.
The story is quite controversial as Rayver will have an affair with Jason Abalos, also a transferee to GMA just like him. Will it be okay with him to do a kissing scene with Jason? “Okay lang, walang problema, ni hindi ko na pag-iisipan,” he says. “Kaya lang, in the story, kapag na-meet ko yung character ni Jason, nagkaroon na siya ng sex change operation at naging transwoman na siya played by Thea, kaya nanghinayang nga ako, e. Chance ko na sanang makahalikan si Jason.”
So is he happy that he moved to GMA? “Oo naman. Heto nga, maganda agad ang unang project na ibinigay nila sa’kin, so I cannot complain.”
In “Asawa Ko, Karibal Ko”, he also gets the chance to work with Lotlot de Leon, the mother of his rumored girlfriend, Janine Gutierrez. So how is it? “Okay, masaya. I’ve work with her before noong bata pa ako at ngayon nga lang naulit. I’ve always called her Ate Lotlot. She plays Kris Bernal’s mom in the show. Close ako sa kanya kaya comfortable ako agad with her on the set. Napakagaling niyang artista, so I’m sure marami akong matututuhan sa kanya and she could helpn guide me sa performance ko.”
He and Janine have yet to officially admit that they’re in a relationship but it’s pretty obvious from their action that something romantic is really going on between them as he’s now always there even in the important family affairs of Janine and her siblings. “As of now, wala pa talaga kaming aaminin ni Janine other than sa masaya kaming dalawa and yes, we are dating. Magkasundo kami at nakakapunta kami sa mga lugar na gusto naming puntahan. Yes, we’re of age, but right now, mas focused pan rin kami sa aming careers. Lalo na ako, kalilipat ko lang sa GMA at gusto ko munang ipakitang worth it for them ang pagkuha nila sa akin and in assigning to me this new show na ‘Asawa Ko, Karibal Ko’. Si Janine, napaka-busy rin on TV with ‘Victor Magtanggol’ and may sinu-shoot pa siyang movie sa Regal. Kung may aaminin na kami about us, we will admit it naman, but as of now, honestly, talaga lang wala pang maaamin.”
