Didn’t she have any qualms doing their sexy scenes? “Noong umpisa lang, kabado ako, but Derrick is such a gentleman and dati ko na siyang friend kaya na-relax agad ako. He really respected me. Also, tinulungan kami ng director namin, si Direk Connie Macatuno. She told us to trust her and we did. Maayos naman ang treatment niya sa sexy scenes, hindi basta bastos o malaswa.”
Since she remains to be a certified virgin in real life, how did she prepare for the love scenes? “Nanood po ako ng maraming movies na may intimate scenes, yung makakatulong sa akin at sa character ko. You don’t have to personally experience them naman. Manood ka lang ng ibang love scenes, may matututuhan ka na. Also, nag-workshop kami ni Derrick para mas maintindihan namin ang requirements ng role namin. And that really helped us a lot.”
As for Derrick, he confesses that everything he did in the movie, he has also done in real life, with different partners. “Yung scene na nag-sex kami inside the car, nagawa ko na rin yun in real life. While we were stuck in heavy traffic,” he adds. “As a millennial, I’m sure, a lot of guys, na-experience na rin yung maging truly Wild and Free in real life. So may pinaghugutan akong real life experiences but sa movie, it’s all treated as art.”If Derrick has had a string of girlfriends, Sanya has yet to have a boyfriend. “Walang chance, e. Kasi, sa ngayon, naka-focus lang talaga ako sa career ko na siyang mahal na mahal ko. All my time and effort, I give it sa career ko lang. Kung magbo-boyfriend ako, sorry, pero wala na akong maibibigay na time sa kanya. Hindi ko puedeng hatiin, kasi bukod sa movie, busy pa ako taping a new soap, ‘Cain at Abel’, with Dennis Trillo and Dingdong Dantes.”
So until when will she hold on to her virginity? “Naku, hindi ko po iniisip yun. Matagal pa. Ibibigay ko lang ito doon sa lalaking magiging tunay na karapat-dapat. Wala pa naman akong nami-meet na ganun sa buhay ko, e.”
