Paolo Contis, Better Known As Contravida & Comedian, Now Plays A Romantic Lead Role In 'Through Night & Day', Says It's His New Baby With LJ Reyes That's The Lucky Charm

 

PAOLO CONTIS has matinee idol good looks and can be a leading man, so we’ve been wondering why he became better known as a kontrabida in teleseryes and as a comedian in “Bubble Gang”. Well, now, he finally gets his chance to show that he also got what it takes to be a romantic leading man in “Through Night & Day”, where he’s paired for the first time with Alessandra de Rossi.

“We’ve worked na together before in the first ‘Spirit of the Glass’ and in ‘One Night Only’, both directed by Joey Reyes, but first time ito na kami ang magkapareha,” he says. ”At nag-enjoy ako kasi napakahusay na artista nitong si Alex de Rossi. Nagkukulitan at alaskahan kami sa set, pero kapag take na, talagang she turns into this serious actress who really knows her craft.”

He says the offer to do the movie came at a time when he’s not doing any soap. “Ang ganda nga kasi first time ko ring makapunta sa Iceland where we shot the movie on location,” he adds. “But for a while, I was reluctant to leave kasi maiiwan nga si LJ Reyes (his current partner) now that she’s pregnant with our baby girl. Sasama ko sana siya, but may school din si Aki (LJ’s son), so hindi siya puedeng umalis. Mabuti na ring hindi siya sumama kasi sobrang lamig sa Iceland at magiging mahirap ang traveling for her kasi palipat-lipat kami ng location and sinasagad namin ang shooting para makarami ng eksena. But while I was in Iceland, panay ang tawag ko sa kanya to check on her. Hindi naman niya ako binawalang umalis kasi alam niyang magandang opportunity for me as an actor ang movie na ito.”

He has two daughters with ex-wife Lian Paz. How does it feel to be a dad anew? “Heto nga, darating na sa January at ang feeling ko, big blessing talaga, a lucky charm siya.

Kasi ang tagal ko nang walang nagawang bagong movie but when she came, heto, nagka-offer ako, dalawa pa. Aside from ‘Through Night & Day’, I also finished a comedy with Jerald Napoles, Jelson Bay, and Pepe Herrera entitled ‘Ang Pangarap Kong Holdap’. November 14 ang opening ng ‘Through Night & Day’ and November 28 naman ang ‘Pangarap Kong Holdap’. So big blessing talaga ang baby ko. Sabi siguro niya, daddy, mag-ipon ka na para sa pagdating ko by January.”

Any plans to tie the knot with LJ officially? “Gustuhin ko man, hindi puede, kasi hindi pa annulled ang previous marriage ko (to Lian Paz who’s now with her own new partner in Cebu, businessman cager John Cabahug.) Pina-process pa rin, but both parties are cooperating so hopefully, maayos na rin ang lahat.”
