Empress was just seen playing the ex-girlfriend of Paulo Avelino in “Goyo, Batang Heneral” and she’s happy to be active once again as an actress after giving birth to her love child, Athalia, who’s now three years old. How is it being a young mom?
“Masaya naman,” she says. “I love my daughter and enjoy akong alagaan siya. She’s talkative, bata pa pero performer na. Mas artista pa nga kaysa sa akin. Lahat ng sabihin ko, ginagaya niya. Talagang sobrang happy ako ngayon at yung father niya (Vino Guingona) dahil sa presence niya sa buhay namin. So, no regrets talaga.”
“Kahit Ayaw Mo Na” is about three young women who are strangers but with a common past. They will cross paths in the beautiful island of Samar where they will realize that it’s fate that brought them together in a summer to remember. Empress plays Joey, a fashion designer. Kristel is Mikee, a food and travel blogger who is also a hopeless romantic. Andrea is Ally, an aspiring composer. Empress goes to Samar with her boyfriend, Reggie (Daniel Matsunaga), looking for a new business they can invest in. There, they meet Desiree del Valle as Edlyn and Alan Paule as Dong, a couple who has a business making mats or banigs. Andrea is their daughter who lives with them. They also meet Kristel who is with her friend Jiro (Kuya Sawa). Kristel wants to feature in her vlog the well guarded recipes of Allan Paule’s mother called Samar’s Secret Kitchens.
While they’re enjoying the scenic places of Samar and its friendly people, it will be revealed that they all have personal issues, specially Joey and Mikee who never knew their dads. Edlyn and Dong are about to have a wedding and they invite Joey and Mikee to the event, but an unforeseen revelation will ruin the celebration. The movie also stars Neil Coleta and Karl Gabrile. Empress says she enjoyed shooting “Kahit Ayaw Mo Na” on location in Samar. “It’s a welcome relief from the traffic and pollution of a big city like Manila,” she adds. “Ang ganda talaga ng Samar and it’s so relaxing. Tahimik, masaya ang pakiramdam. Puyat lang kami sa shooting pero masaya naman. You’ll see all the beautiful places where we shot various scenes in the movie when it opens in theatres on December 5.”
