KIM CHIU has hot love scenes with her two leading men, Dennis Trillo and JC De Vera, in the Regal Filmfest entry, “One Great Love”. Isn’t she worried that her real life boyfriend Xian Lim might somehow get jealous?
“No, he knows namang this is a career move for me to come up with more mature films and no longer the teeny bopper roles I’m used to doing then,” she says. “Very supportive nga siya at gusto na niyang mapanood ang buong movie. Bihira kaming magkita lately kasi he’s shooting his movie sa Viva na may location pa sa Japan at ako naman, naging busy rito sa ‘One Great Love’. But he said sasama siya sa aking manood nito.”
Have they talked about the possibility of settling down? “No, wala. Wala pa sa plans namin yan. Ni hindi naman napag-uusapan kasi pareho kaming marami pang ibang priorities. Hindi naman na uso ngayon ang early marriage, especially for people so engrossed with their careers. Very common na for career women to seriously consider settling down in their mid-30s. So malayo pa ako.”
How does she feel now that the public is about to judge her movie “One Great Love” on Christmas Day? “I’m both excited and also nervous as to how the public will react to the mature scenes I did, na first time ko lang ginawa para naman mag-level up na ang career ko. Maraming first time ako rito, not only the love scenes but also working with Dennis and JC and with our director Eric Quizon who gave me so much freedom in interpreting my role to make sure na comfortable ako when I face the camera.”
She’ll be up against the entries of other Kapamilya stars like Vice Ganda, Anne Curtis, Coco Martin, Jericho Rosales and Jessy Mendiola. How does she feel about it? “I don’t know kung ano ang dapat na maging pakiramdam ko, but all I can say is I’m not here naman to compete with them. Basta kami sa ‘One Great Love’, we just worked hard and did our best to make sure we’re coming up with a good and very entertaining movie. We’re all proud of our work and we’re sure the viewers will all be pleased.”
And what about Direk Eric’s statement that she has a good chance of winning the filmfest best actress award? “Naku, ayokong mag-expect. Ang gagaling ng mga kalaban. But I want to thank Direk Erik for his trust in me. He inspired me to give my very best in my role as Zyra in this movie.”
