“It’s a lot of fun,” says Janine. “Masaya si Enchong kasi he’s really hot, laging naghuhubad, pinagta-topless lagi ni Direk Joel and he’s always game. It helps that we’ve worked together before in the indie film, ‘Lila’, by Director Gino Santos. So wala na kaming kapaan since we’re friends na. But ‘Lila’ is a horror movie, while ‘Elise’ is a love story so, magkaiba sila. This time, makaka-relate lahat ng viewers sa story of Enchong as Bert, na ang first love is his childhood sweetheart, me as Elise. Magkakahiwalay sila as they grow up but, several years later, they will meet again. Bert is still in love with Elise, but he cannot express his feelings kasi torpe siya at nerdy.”
We heard na Enchong is the best friend of her rumored boyfriend now, Rayver Cruz. So how is it doing kissing scenes with him? “Sa’kin okay lang, trabaho lang, but siya, he said he felt a little awkward kissing me kasi nga best friends sila ni Rayver.”
“Elise” is a pre-Valentine presentation. How is her Valentine this year now that it’s said she and Rayver are really on? “Masaya. Ako naman, hindi nakatutok lang sa Valentine. Mas I go doon sa day to day living and all I can say now is… basta masaya ako. And I’m happy na we have a movie na palabas pa sa Valentine. This is really perfect for the day of hearts and lovers can really enjoy the story which is not just about first love but also about getting to know yourself better, appreciating the people that come into your life and also about moving on.”
Her grandmother Pilita Corrales and her dad’s sister, Jackielou Blanco, are part of the cast of “Elise”. How is it working with them? “I appreciate na we’re all together in one movie but si Direk Joel, ginawa silang relatives ni Enchong and not mine. Si Mamita Pilita is Enchong’s lola and we don’t even have a scene together, while Tita Jackielou is Enchong’s mom and we do have a scene together. Sinadya ni Direk na ganun, for a change.”Aside from "Elise", Janine is starting to tape for a new TV drama, "Dragon Lady", where she also plays the title role. She is paired for the first time with Tom Rodriguez.
