Ken Chan Now Also A GMA Music Artist With His First Single, 'Almusal', With Rita Daniela

KEN CHAN says he didn’t expect that his love team with Rita Daniela in the hit GMA Afternoon Prime drama, “My Special Tatay”, will be embraced warmly by the public. “Everywhere I go now, people call me Boyet, my name in the show, and people will then ask me, Nasaan si Aubrey, which is the name of the character played by Rita,” he says. “May name na nga ang love team ng characters namin, called BoBrey. Rita says na siya rin, saan man siya magpunta, hinahanap sa kanya ng mga tao kung nasaan si Boyet. Hindi namin talaga akalaing magki-click kami sa tao. Obviously, nagustuhan nila yung kahit mentally challenged si Boyet, naging very positive ang epekto niya sa pagkatao ni Aubrey para hangarin nitong magbagumbuhay at hindi na maging pokpok.”

Now, Ken and Rita are together again. This time, you can hear them doing a duet of the catchy song “Almusal”. Ken has just signed up with GMA Music, where Rita is already a resident talent. Ken has recorded songs before with PolyEast Records but he’s now glad to be part of GMA Music.

“This is a good way to start the new year, signing up with them on January 8 to be a member of their roster of talents,” Ken adds. “Sobrang happy po ako dahil ang tagal ko nang wish na mapabilang ako sa GMA Music. Talagang nagpapasalamat po ako sa kanila dahil nagtiwala at patuloy na nagtitiwala ang GMA sa akin. Dati sa acting lang, ngayon pati sa singing na rin. Lahat ng pino-produce nila, show man or music, maganda talaga, kaya excited akong makatrabaho sila.”

His duet of “Almusal” with Rita is now getting good airplay over the radio and also getting excellent feedback. “Simple lang yung song, pero feel good ‘yung music at relatable ang lyrics,” adds Ken. “Kasi ‘di ba tayong mga Pinoy, mahilig tayong mag-almusal. Kapag may sinusuyo tayo, ‘di ba isa sa mga ginagawa natin. pinaghahanda natin sila ng almusal. Nagpe-play na po sa Barangay LS 97.1 and sa RGMA provincial radio stations nationwide ‘yung single.  Noong una ko siyang narinig na pinapatugtog sa radyo, sobrang sarap sa feeling na finally pinarinig na sa mga Kapuso natin yung single namin.”

Meanwhile, GMA Music Managing Director Rene Salta proudly welcomed Ken and revealed that they already have quality projects in store for him, “Happy ang GMA Music sa signing na ito with Ken Chan because he is one of the Network’s most prized talents. In fact, meron na siyang naka-ready na next single. Abangan nyo kasi it’s coming soon, and we’re also looking forward to shooting the music video for that.”
