In the story, Ruru plays Emong, an OFW mechanic who returns home as a balikbayan and gets involved in a complicated love triangle with Kylie Padilla as Gelay and David Licauco as Kobe. “The tricycle is a popular of transportation all over the country and our show explores the lives and experiences of tricycle drivers,” says Ruru. “TODA is the Tricycles Operators and Drivers Association. Yung president is my dad, played by Raymond Bagatsing, at ang kalaban niya sa election for the new president is the dad of Kylie, played by Allen Dizon. Ang karibal ko naman kay Kylie, si David, is the son of our town’s mayor, Victor Neri as Mayor Migs Generoso and the former mayor, Gladys Reyes as Mayora Dyna. Diyan iikot ang conflict ng story which is a political romantic-comedy dahil background din nito ang mayoralty elections sa bayan namin called Ulilang Kawayan.”
How does he feel being reunited with Kylie? “It’s great. After our KyRu love team in ‘Encantadia’ clicked, andami talagang naging followers namin at never silang bumitaw. Silang nag-request na pagsamahin kami uli and we were reunited briefly as guests sa ‘The Cure’. Ngayon, kami na ang lead characters dito sa ‘TODA One I Love’ and it’s so easy to work with Kylie kasi friends na nga kami kaya wala nang ilangan at all. Those who’ve seen some episodes of ‘TODA’ say hindi talaga awala ang chemistry namin.”How does he feel now that his ex-partner and girlfriend, Gabbi Garcia, is on with Khalil Ramos of ABS-CBN? “Siempre, very happy ako for her, for both of them. They deserve it. As for me, wala pa rin akong natatagpuang bagong magpapatibok ng puso ko kaya malamig nga ang gabi ko sa darating na Valentine’s Day.”
