Angelu De Leon On Working With Young Stars Kyline Alcantara & Therese Malvar In 'Inagaw Na Bituin'

ANGELU DE LEON is happy to be reunited with former 90s co-stars Sunshine Dizon and Angelika de la Cruz, who play warring sisters in GMA-7’s new afternoon drama, “Inagaw na Bituin”, which will replace “Ika-5 Utos” starting this afternoon. “They’re both very good actresses and it’s always nice to work with them, pati na sina Marvin Agustin at Gabby Eigenmann,” she says. “We collaborate well. Maganda agad ang naging bonding namin and we all vowed to make our show a good one so that viewers will find it truly worth watching.”



She plays Aurora de la Cruz, the adoptive mother of Kyline Alcantara who plays Anna, the daughter of Sunshine Dizon who was stolen and became Elsa. Kyline becomes the rival of Therese Malvar as Ariela, who is the daughter of Angelika de la Cruz as the villainous Lucy Lopez. How would she size up the two new actresses working with them, Kyline and Therese?

“Okay naman sila, nakikinig naman sa amin who are more senior than them. Marami silang mahuhugot na aral mula sa amin kasi mas matagal na kami kaysa sa kanila sa industriya. We all want to help them cultivate their talents not only as artists, but also bilang tao rin. But as it is, they’re both fine naman. Alam mong dedicated sila and really want to make it good in their craft. It’s now their time to shine and they should be grateful for the chance given to them by GMA-7 at hindi nila dapat sayangin ang opportunity na ibinigay sa kanila ng network.”

How would she compare the teen stars now to those of her batch in the 1990s? “Sa tingin ko, tougher ang competition ngayon because of social media. Mas may pressure kasi lahat sila nagpo-post ng mga nangyayari sa private lives nila sa kanilang IG stories, sa youtube o sa twitter. Parang sila mismo ang kailangang magbenta sa sarili nila. They market themselves. During our time, wala namang ganun. Ang trabaho lang namin is to act on the films or shows given to us at walang contest ng paramihan ng likes, di ba? Walang patalbugan sa social media.”

Also in the cast of “Inagaw na Bituin” are Michael Flores as Angelu’s husband, Renz Valerio and Manolo Pedrosa as the leading men of Kyline and Therese, Patricia Tumulak as Angelika’s friend, Alyanna Asistio as Sunshine’s personal assistant, Melbelline Caluag as Angelu’s other daughter who also sings, and Jackielou Blanco as the doting mother of Sunshine and Angelika. This is under the direction of Mark Reyes.
