Dion Ignacio Now The Only Starstruck 1 Male Member Who Plays Lead Roles, As Yasmien Kurdi's Husband In 'Hiram Na Anak'

DION IGNACIO is now the only male member of Starstruck Batch 1 who plays lead roles. The winner, Mark Herras, now plays villain and supporting roles. Other male batchmates like Rainier Castillo (the first runner up), Christian Esteban and Anton de la Paz, have retired from showbiz, while another one has passed, the late Tyron Perez. It’s the girls who are still more active: Jennylyn Mercado, Katrina Halili, Sheena Halili, Cristine Reyes and Yasmien Kurdi who is now paired with Dion in GMA-7’s new morning drama, “Hiram na Anak”.

“I’m really thankful that after all these years since 2004 nang matapos ang Starstruck 1, naririto pa rin ako,” says Dion at the presscon of “Hiram na Anak”.  “32 na ako ngayon and I’ve always been faithful to GMA-7 kaya naman hindi rin nila ako pinababayaan. Right after ‘Victor Magtanggol’ where I supported Alden Richards, heto at lead role naman ang ibinigay sa’kin dito sa ‘Hiram na Anak’, so I really can’t complain.



"The last time I played a leading man was in ‘Magdalena’ with Bela Padilla, in 2012 pa. After that, puro support ako at ngayon lang uli nakapagbida and I’m glad it’s with Yasmien kasi we’re long time friends kaya comfortable na kami sa isa’t isa.”

In “Hiram na Anak” that starts on Monday, February 25,, he plays Adrian, the husband of Yasmien. He has an older sister, Rita Avila as Hilda, who’s rich, very protective of him and always berates Yasmien.

“Naiipit ako sa kanila kasi nga ayaw ng sister ko sa misis ko,” he adds. “Nilalait niyang baog kasi hindi magbuntis si Yasmien, and when she finally did, inabot pa kami ng trahedya. So nag-ampon kami ng batang babae, na hindi namin alam, anak pala ni Paolo Contis as Benjo na siyang nakapatay sa anak namin sa isang aksidente.”

Off cam, Dion is now also a real dad. His partner is Aileen Sison, a former flight attendant with Etihad Airlines. They have a daughter, Dylann Jailee, who’s one year & 7 months old. They plan to eventually get married but he says he wants to get their own house first.

“Kasi ngayon, sa Cavite kami nakatira. I want to have a house in Metro-Manila para mas malapit-lapit sa trabaho. Itong ‘Hiram na Anak’, sa Pampanga ang location namin so I leave home nang madaling araw para umabot ako sa calltime namin sa taping ng 7 AM.”
