Lani Misalucha No Longer Celebrates Valentine With Husband: "I'm Always Working On That Day"

LANI MISALUCHA was last seen on TV in GMA-7’s talent search, “The Clash”, with Regine Velasquez. Since then, Regine has moved to ABS-CBN. Was she aware of Regine’s planned move?

“Noong una, I wasn’t at all aware, though I’ve been hearing na lilipat daw nga siya,” says Lani at the presscon of her Valentine concert, “Timeless Classics”, with Martin Nievera. “But towards the end of ‘The Clash’, nung malapit nang matapos, nabanggit niya ito sa’kin. E, ako naman, kung saan ba masaya ang isang tao, di doon siya. It’s her decision and I am happy for her. Makikita naman nating happy siya roon ngayon, e. She’s apparently enjoying herself. So let’s just respect her decision as she knows what is best for her.”

Her first back to back concert with Martin, “Masquerade”, was a blockbuster hit both here in Manila and in the U.S.A. “It’s memorable for me kasi I even won as best female concert artist sa Star Awards for Music dahil sa concert naming yun,” she adds. “I’m happy to do another concert with him again this Valentine kasi he’s not only an excellent artist kundi napakasayang kasama. It’s always a joy to work with a Martin Nievera kasi he’s a true blue professional and he always makes sure na bawat number na gagawin namin, talagang maganda at magugustuhan ng audience. Dito sa ‘Timeless Classics’, siempre, dahil Valentine, we will be singing immortal love sings that will make all those who’d watch, especially the lovers, feel very romantic on that special day of hearts.”

“Timeless Classics” will be held at PICC Plenary Hall on Valentine’s Day itself. How about her and her husband, Noli, do they still celebrate Valentine considering she’s working on that day? “Actually, matagal na naming hindi sine-celebrate kasi I’m always working tuwing Valentine. It doesn’t mean we’re taking each other for granted because we celebrate naman other special occasions, like our wedding anniversary. We’ve been married for 28 years now, dagdag pa yung 5 years na boyfriend-girlfriend kami, so all in all 33 years na kami together and we have nothing more to prove, lalo’t may mga apo na rin kami. They live in Las Vegas and whenever I’m there, I always spend my time with them kasi ang bilis nilang lumaki and enjoy ako to play with them. I love being a lola and I spoil them. But it’s a nice feeling that on Valentine’s Day, kahit kami mismo ng husband ko, we don’t celebrate, you are part naman of how other couples celebrate this special day and I really enjoy singing for them all the love songs that will help rekindle the romance in their lives.”
