JANINE GUTIERREZ plays the title role of Celestina, the “Dragon Lady”, which replaces “Asawa Ko Karibal Ko” starting this Monday. “I’m so excited kasi kakaiba ang role ko at ang kuwento mismo,” she says. “As Dragon Lady, bumubuga talaga ako ng apoy. I really want to try doing this fantasy-drama and I’m glad pinagbigyan ako ng GMA-7 to try doing this kind of project. Mahirap siya gawin as I have to put on prosthetic makeup for three hours. Napakamatrabahong gawin. But when I saw how good it is on screen, sulit naman lahat ng pagod ko kasi ang linis at pulido ang pagkakagawa.”
She’s paired with Tom Rodriguez, who plays her leading man, Michael Chan, for the first time. “I’m excited to work with him after we did one episode of ‘Magpakailanman’. Isa siya sa mga Kapuso leading men na pangarap kong makapreha at heto, wish granted.”
The story will start with Bea Binene as Almira, a young woman who’s in love with Derrick Monasterio as Charles Chua, whose Chinese family is against her. When she gets pregnant, her baby comes out with features like those of a dragon. Later on, it will be discovered that she also breathes fire when she is angry.
