JESSY MENDIOLA is happy to do her first movie with Regal, “Stranded”, also the first time she’s paired with Arjo Atayde, directed by award-winning indie filmmaker Ice Idanan who’s now doing her first mainstream work in “Stranded”.
“After I read the script, I quickly fell in love with the material,” she says. “The main bulk of the story happens only in one night inside a big warehouse. I play Julia, a woman who lives a stable, very organized life. Then one stormy night, I get stranded inside a warehouse surrounded by floods with a stranger, si Arjo as Spencer, who’s the complete opposite of me na happy go lucky and he doesn’t even plan his life.
"Wala siyang direction sa buhay at all. But what I don’t know is that our encounter will change my life. During the night, dahil kaming dalawa lang, wala kaming kasama, we got to talk about everything under the sun, especially about our differing views on relationships, at tiyak na maraming makaka-relate na viewers.”
How is it working with Arjo and their young female director?
“Siempre, napadali ang trabaho namin kasi si Arjo, napakagaling na aktor. Dati na kaming friends so comfortable kami agad with each other. Si Direk Ice naman is a very good director, so easy to work with kasi she’s very open to suggestions, sa inputs na dinaragdag namin ni Arjo para mas mapaganda ang interpretation namin sa eksena. She really collaborates with her stars and very concerned kung paano mapapaganda ang visuals niya on the big screen.”
Of course, she and Arjo cannot be linked to each other to help promote the film since it’s common knowledge that Arjo now has Maine Mendoza in his life while she has Luis Manzano. When she posted on social media recently that she’s off to new beginnings, her fans made their own conjectures as to what this means. Does it mean she will soon walk down the aisle with Luis? Or does it confirm the rumor that she’s moving to GMA-7?
“Actually, I’m referring to my vlog. Yes, may vlog na ako, I hope you check it out. And I’ve put up a new business online for beach wear and caftans, with the encouragement of Luis.”
It seems like Luis is very influential in her life right now.
“Oh yes, he definitely gave a different meaning to my life. He taught me how to improve myself. He helped me question the things I was doing then in my life at naayos niya ang magulo kong buhay. He made me realize that I should be thankful for what I have, but I should also strive to achieve more, like starting my own business. He also helped me become more communicative and become a better person.”
