GABBI GARCIA is a Kapuso actress while her boyfriend Khalil Ramos is a Kapamilya, but they’re now together for the first time in the movie, “LSS (Last Song Syndrome)”, produced by Globe Studios and directed by Jade Castro of the award winning indie films, “Endo” and “Zombadings”.
This is one of the three finalists in the coming Pista ng Pelikulang Pilipino (PPP) in September introduced officially in a special presscon by FDCP Chair Liza Dino. The other two entries are Perci Intalan’s “The Panti Sisters” and Rod Marmol’s “Cuddle Weather”.
Only “LSS” has started filming and they’re now on their last few days of shoot. It’s good Gabbi and Khalil were allowed by their respective mother networks to work with each other?
“Yes po,” says Gabbi. “In my case, it’s a long process kasi ni-require ng GMA Artist Center na mag-meeting muna with the production team of the movie. GMA wanted to make sure that it’s a good project for me before they gave the go signal.”
“Sa akin, nag-usap din ang ABS and Globe Studios pero mas madali lang, kasi I’m already doing another movie for Globe, ‘Dead Kids’ with Direk Mikhail Red,” says Khalil.
Did Direk Jade have a hand in the casting? “Actually, it’s the creative team who chose them,” he says. “And when I found out that it’s them, gustong-gusto ko naman kasi they both sing and are into music so they’re perfect for their roles. The movie kasi uses all the songs of the band Ben&Ben and for sure, the viewers, mala-last song syndrome talaga sila when they watch our movie.”
So how is it to work with each other for the first time in a movie? “Masaya,” says Gabbi. “We’re really enjoying each other’s company.”
“We’re both inspired to give our best in all our scenes,” adds Khalil. “We play Zach and Sarah, who both love music and get into a whirlwind romance.”
They are supported in the movie by Tuesday Vargas, Elijah Canlas and the members of the folk-pop band Ben&Ben whose members will appear in a film for the first time, playing themselves.
