Kaye Abad Returns To ABS-CBN In 'Nang Ngumiti Ang Langit' After Four Years Of Missing Acting

KAYE ABAD was married to PBB Housemate Paul Jake Castillo in Cebu on December 9, 2016 and she gave birth to their first baby, a boy named Joaquin on December 22, 2017, also the same birthday of Paul Jake. Her last TV show was “Two Wives” in 2015.

Now, she’s making a comeback in ABS-CBN’s new morning soap, “Nang Ngumiti ang Langit”, that starts airing on March 25, produced by the business unit of Ruel S. Bayani. She plays the mother of new child actress Sophia Reola in the story. So how is it to act as a mom now that she’s a mother in real life?

“It’s kinda weird,” she says. “How will I explain it? Dati na nga akong gumaganap na mom, but now, mommy na ako talaga. Being one really helped me in my emotions. Hindi kasi ako masyadong reliant sa technique as an actor . Now, it’s easier for me to assume a nanay part at ipasok ang sarili ko sa character, kasi nga I’m no longer just playing a role kundi mother na talaga ako ng isang real baby boy.”

So how’s married life? “Masaya ako as a wife. I’m now based in Cebu. No regrets that I left showbiz. But I’m happy kinuha uli ako ng ABS to act again kasi, after four years, na-miss ko rin umarte. I play Ella at kapareha ko rito si RK Bagatsing as Michael. We come from warring families, ala-Romeo and Juliet. Galing ako sa pamilya ng mga Salvador, with Pilar Pilapil as the matriarch, Divina, but I’m the anak sa labas ng husband niya. I fall in love with RK who’s from the Villaluna family led by Dante Rivero, mortal enemy ng mga Salvador.

"Si RK, napagbintangang siyang pumatay sa anak ni Divina na si Eric, played by Rafa Siguion Reyna, who’s married to Cristine Reyes as Katrina.  He’s sent to jail and I give birth to our daughter, si Mikmik, si Sophia Reola nga. Pero nagkaroon ako ng sakit at kailangang tumira si Mikmik sa bahay nina Divina, kunsaan inaapi siya ni Cristine at ng dalawang anak nito, sina Heart Ramos and Krystal Mejes. This is under the direction of FM Reyes and Ayet de Guzman.”


Since she now lives in Cebu, has she ever crossed paths with her former BF and “Tabing Ilog” co-star, John Lloyd Cruz, who now also lives there with his partner, Ellen Adarna, and their own son? “No, never. Lagi naman akong lumalabas but not once ko pa siyang nakita. Ayaw siguro ng tadhana na magkita kami. I don’t even know his number.”

How is it working with RK and Sophia? “First time namin ni RK at noong una, naiilang pa ako but, sa pictorial pa lang, he welcomed me na. Machika siya and made me comfortable right away sa set. Si Sophia, first time din namin, and okay siya, hindi matigas ang ulo. Nakikinig siya and is willing to learn kaya nagkasundo kami agad.”
