| MARK HERRAS as a cop in BIHAG |
MARK HERRAS last played a supporting role as contravida in “The Cure”. He now plays support again to Max Collins and Jason Abalos in “Bihag”. How does he feel about it? “Okay lang,” he says. “Ako naman ang nag-request sa GMA na bigyan ako ng character roles, e. Maganda naman at naiiba ang role ko rito sa ‘Bihag’ as the policeman assigned sa case ng pagkidnap sa anak nina Max at Jason. Later on, it will be revealed na may back story pala ako at meron akong direktang kinalaman sa kaso.”
At the presscon, he was the most sought after star as everyone wants to interview him about his breakup with Winwyn Marquez. In fairness to him, he didn’t dodge the questions thrown his way. So what’s the reason they called it quits?
“Hindi na healthy yung relationship namin, e. Nagiging sobrang stressful na. Kasi, kung minsan, mga maliliit na bagay, pinagtatalunan namin. Away-bati kami and it came to a point that we realized na hindi na healthy ito, hindi na nakakatulong sa amin. Pareho lang kaming nai-stress.”
Did he feel bad about the breakup? “Siempre naman. Three years din kami. Iniyakan ko talaga, lalo na noong bago pa lang. That was in January. But now, April na, medyo nakaka-move on na. I’ve adjusted and gotten used to being all alone again. Nag-usap naman kami nang maayos and it was a mutual decision na tapusin na. No third party involved. First relationship ko itong natapos na friendly pa rin kami. We also decided na mag-focus muna sa trabaho.”
We thought they planned to get married? Did they live in? “No. Never. Winwyn lives with her dad. Ako, ready na ko magpamilya. 32 na ako, e. But siya, hindi pa. She’s 26 lang at marami pa siyang gustong gawin sa buhay.”
Someone said Winwyn’s dad, Joey Marquez, is against him and it could be she finally listened to her father. “You know, in fairness to Tito Joey, he’s always been civil to me. Naging maganda ang pakikitungo niya sa’kin. Nagpupunta ko sa kanila for dinner at natitikman ko pa ang luto niya kasi he cooks. Never niyang pinaramdam sa’kin na ayaw niya ako for Winwyn.”
So is there a possibility that they might still reconcile? “At this point, hindi namin napag-iisipan, kasi nga we both decided na tumutok muna sa careers namin.”
Is he now looking for a new love? “Hindi na muna. Rest muna ako diyan kasi nga 32 na ako. It’s about time magseryoso naman ako sa trabaho at dito muna ko mag-focus nang husto kasi, let’s face it, I’m not getting any younger. I’m just thankful binibigyan pa rin ako ng GMA ng trabaho, ng magandang role like here in ‘Bihag’. Ako naman, it’s my duty to show them na I’m trying my best to improve on my craft.”
