CHRISTIAN BABLES says he is happy to work again with Jun Lana and Perci Intalan of IdeaFirst Company, the production outfit who gave him his breakout role in “Die Beautiful” for which he won acting awards as Barbs. It’s common knowledge they had a falling out when he refused to do the sequel, “Born Beautiful”, and the role of Barbs was inherited by Martin del Rosario.
Now, he and Martin, plus Paolo Ballesteros who were with them in both “Die Beautiful” and “Born Beautiful”, are all cast together in one movie, “The Panti Sisters”, a PPP entry. They play gay brothers whose father is dying and summons all of them to challenge them that whoever can give him a grandchild will inherit the family’s riches.
“The script is from Ivan Payawal and we thought it would be ideal if we could cast the three of them all in one movie,” says Direk Perci. “Yung tampo kay Christian before, matagal nang na-resolved yun and we’re happy to be working with him again in this family comedy.”
“I’m really happy and thankful that sina Direk Perci and Jun Lana, pinagtiwalaan nila uli ako and gave me the opportunity to work with them again, kahit nagkaroon kami ng misunderstanding noon na pinalaki lang naman ng ibang tao,” says Christian.
We ask him if he has seen “Born Beautiful” and did he realize that he’s really a better Barbs than Martin del Rosario? “Yes, talagang pinanood ko yun. First time lang namin ni Martin to meet each other dito sa ‘Panti Sisters” and he is really good in the movie and I enjoyed it. ”
And what can Martin say about this, now that they’re given the chance to work together? “Magkaiba naman kami ng atake naman ni Christian sa role ng Barbs, but now, magkasama na kami sa isang movie at kasama pa namin si Paolo Ballesteros so don’t miss ‘The Panti Sisters’ when it’s shown in September dahil riotous talaga ito.”
