BARBIE FORTEZA admits that working together with real life BF Jak Roberto in “Kara Mia” has actually made their relationship stronger than ever.
“It’s but natural kasi mas madalas kaming magkita, unlike before na we were doing separate shows and we see each other only on weekends,” she adds. “Dito, nagagawa naming kumain nang magkasama during shooting breaks. We throw lines to each other so we can rehearse together and prepare for our scenes. Kaya nagpapasalamat kami sa GMA-7 for granting the request of fans na pagsamahin kami sa isang show.”
How do they keep their on and off screen relationship strong? “Hindi mahirap kasi we have a lot of interests in common. Pareho kaming hindi mahilig lumabas at gumimik. We prefer watching movies together, kasama ang parents ko, then kakain kami sa labas. Mga ganun lang. And more than anything else, we have trust and respect for each other, which is very important in any relationship.”
Meantime, Barbie is grateful for the loyal followers of “Kara Mia” who watch the show every night on GMA Telebabad. The story gets more complicated with the death of Althea Ablan as Star, Carmina Villaroel as Aya’s youngest daughter.
Carmina accuses the engkanto, Mike Tan as Iswal, who has become a mortal called Wally, as the one responsible for her child’s death. Mike denies it, although it’s really Star’s death that gives him back his powers as an engkanto. Star died while trying to save Barbie as Kara who was held captive.
Mike then hatches a plan to kill Carmina’s husband, John Estrada as Arthur, as he’s so obsessed and determined to get Carmina for himself, while Glydel Mercado as Julia is also obsessed and wants to get John for herself, claiming she is pregnant and that it is John who is the father.
Barbie, in turn, seeks the help of a powerful albularyo, played by Bembol Roco, to help her solve her problems with her twin sister, Mika de la Cruz as Mia, who has chosen to side with Mike Tan and his mother, Gina Pareno as Corazon.
